Misconceptions in the LGBT community

I've been debating on writing this blog for the past couple of days and decided that it was in everyone's best interest to put it up. My first hope for this blog is that people realize that there is just as much judgment WITHIN our community as there is OUTSIDE of it.
* For the purposes of this blog, masculine identified females will be referred to as studs in hopes of cutting down any confusion.
Misconceptions in the LGBT community.
The other day someone spoke to me in regards to "bisexual" studs and how it disgusted them for various reasons and how it was different for a fem to be bisexual versus a stud. I was stunned to say the least, and for more than one reason. That ideology alone is the reason why so many people in our community suffer. The outside world that is against anything and everything LGBT already makes us feel as though there is no place for us in society, and to make matters worse, often times we do the same to bisexuals. But wait that's not it...the same men & women that go to such extremes to express their disgust against bisexuals, are the same ones attending every rally for equality...the same individuals that scream "NO LABELS" are the same ones labeling bisexuals as an atrocity.
Let's just be real, we're women and some women like penetration...what's the big deal? So a fem is allowed to enjoy penetration, but a stud is not? Hypocritical bullshit. The extent in which people display their judgment is absurd and does nothing but cause the entire community to take 10 steps backwards. It's really simple, if you don't like it, agree with it, or appreciate it, simply keep it moving.
And before anyone begins to point fingers, I am not bisexual, I am 100% lesbian and have absolutely no interest in men but I refuse to look down upon those that do because with me being a lesbian, I have felt ashamed, worthless, and alone on more than one occasion, all due to who & what I love and who & what I am. I refuse to cause those same feelings and emotions in another individual because it's just too close for home and fuck it, if I am keeping it all the way real, who am I or anyone else to place judgment on another?!
I'm not so big to believe that this blog will make a dent in the endless black pit I like to call internalized prejudice, but hopefully someone will think twice before throwing out their next unnecessary, derogatory and hurtful comment. While it may garner you a few fist pumps and cause your head to become way too big from all the attention, you just look dumb as hell at the end of it all. Lastly, if you do choose to continue disrespecting people based on their sexual preferences, please do not complain that in 2012 (almost 2013), we're still fighting for equality and acceptance. You are no different than those that turn their noses up at us.
Sincerely,
Maliyah

I created Team Lesbian's in 2010, and although I did not have a clear view of where I wanted to take it, I never gave up but kept investing time and energy into the brand. It surely wasn't easy all of the time, but nonetheless, it was rewarding and still very much is. Along the way, Team Lesbian's has lost some individuals but we've also gained an even better friendship and business relationship with Dani and Nay.
It has come to my attention (although I was always aware) that there are some people that are not happy with the Team Lesbian's brand or the many mediums that we utilize to keep in touch with our members; however, the negativity only helps to further motivate us.
I'm writing this blog because I wanted to let the people that actually do support us know that we're sincerely doing all that we do to keep you happy and entertained. We're not perfect and we never will be, but a lot of blood, sweat, tears and resources have gone into running this website, Twitter, Blog Talk Radio, Facebook and Tumblr. We have our bad days like everyone else but we attempt to not let that spill over into Team Lesbian's. I'm just not sure that some people are aware of all that goes into doing what we are trying to do, but it does bother me when these individuals spread negative and hurtful comments when they themselves are doing nothing to assist the LGBT community in any way. In short, if you do not like Team Lesbian's or what we stand for, please know that at any time you're free to leave the website, unfollow us on Twitter, un-like us on Facebook, quit listening on Blog Talk Radio or stop following us on Tumblr. It's a free world and you always have a choice.
To those that support us even through our bad moments, I thank you so much. It means much more than you will ever know. If you ever need anything, let us know and we will do the very best that we can to assist you. The website is not perfect but we're not giving up...we'll continue to work on it to see to it that teamlesbians.com meets your needs. If you'd like to help us on our mission, join the site and post topics, comments, poems, songs or anything else to the forum page or follow us on any of our other pages. I apologize if the site is not yet what you are looking for, but please know that we will not give up until it is. Thanks for all of the genuine love and support that you give to us, it never goes unnoticed!
Sincerely,
Maliyah
